The Resort

My Wife and I manage a rural resort it has long empty hallways, doorways and windows that can sometimes cause strange light effects etc. Most are easily explained, debunked, I guess, but strange and unexplainable things have happened here.

We leave doors open to units that are temporarily unoccupied while we are cleaning, it gives them a chance to air out. There are times when our guests have left for the day and we’ll be walking down a hallway and see a human shaped shadow cast across the floor of a doorway or against the wall across from the door. We naturally assume a guest has returned and entered a room that we are cleaning, or that it’s either my wife or in the room working. We have stepped into the room prepared to speak to the guest or each other and find the room is empty.

We also check the windows to see if someone has walked by outside and find no one. These experiences typically happen on our second and third floors where someone would not be able to walk past the windows because of their height.

Sometimes when the resort completely empty, we hear children’s feet running down the hall above us. When we go to quietly check, it’s as if they know and they stop. There have been times when doors have slammed when there are no guests in the resort. No windows or doors were open and we can’t seem to determine which part of the resort the sound came from.

Once while walking towards an open unit in our basement, I smelled rose perfume just within a foot or two space. As I passed the open door, a very clear woman’s voice said “Well, Hello there” in the style of a 1950’s TV show. When I stepped into the room, no one was there, all windows were closed and no tv or radio were on. I still get shivers every time I walk by it.
