(Another Beginning to an Epic Novel)
One leg pitched over the side of the small rowboat, small fish nibbling at his big toe. William didn’t have the inclination or the energy to withdraw his foot. Four days adrift without fresh water will do that to a man. The sun was beating down on his briny, wind burned face.
His breath smelled as bad as the seaweed patch he had just drifted through. Too strong to die, but not quite strong enough to live, William had given up hope only two days previous.
He couldn’t die if he tried; he thought he could speed up the process by drinking sea water. But, all that did, was make him vomit. As he spewed forth the fowl liquid, he concurred that it did indeed taste better coming up, than it did going down.
William had no idea how he came to be lying in this small craft. The dry crusted blood on his forehead hadn’t offered any clues and neither did the pink taffeta prom dress he was wearing…
Another Beginning to an Epic Novel - was born from the combination of wanting to be able to write a complete novel, too much coffee and ADHD. I've had all of these (what I considered) Great Ideas for a books that have never come to fruition. I would write them, ask friends what they thought and then lose focus or interest. That alone was funny enough because people began to ask... "What happened next..." to which my response was..."I dunno" The fact that they were curious made me extremely happy. Now, I am simply satisfied to spark their imagination into thinking about where the story would go from here. I will happily take submissions from anyone willing to continue where I left off... leave your suggestions in the comment sections. Enjoy.
